A-K is one of Doyle's favorite hands, especially if it is suited. I do not like to get married to this hand, as it is just A-high. A lot of players just shove it in with this hand, but I would disagree with that play. IMHO it really depends on position and the opponents left in the hand that make the decision for me (along with stack size). With plaenty of chips and no raisers, I would raise at least 4x BB to get any limpers out of the way. If you have a tight table image, you may even take out small pairs. Later, if there has been a lot of action, calling may be a good option, as some of the action is probably coming from someone holding your outs. I am ready to throw it away if I see someone that is not a loose cannon betting a flop that is rags. If you have only a few chips left, shove it in in any position!
