Pro Tip #165: Are you telling the right story?

One theme you’ll see throughout our Tips From The Pros series is that when you’re making a move, your actions need to tell a plausible story. Some stories can be simple. For example, if you raise pre-flop and then follow up with a bet on a King-high flop, you’re telling opponents that you’re happy with the progression of the hand and maybe you have A-K or K-Q.

If your bets don't match your 'story', your a lot more likely to be called out on bluffs.

Just throwing a bunch of chips in the pot on the river to steal the pot does not work if you limped in, checked it down on the flop / turn.

Telling a good story is essential for the poker bluff to be pulled off.. or any hand for that matter. If all you have to go on in online poker is people's bets / betting patterns / reaction time; pay attention to it all. It's all a story.

your right dude and i think it helps if you can show cards after a preflop raise and table fold at least twice so the next time you so so in your hand the table might respect the bluff
