The tunnel..scary place to go! (true)
The Tunnel, in Tunnelton, IN , is indeed a great place to go around Halloween, or anytime as far as that goes. I have been there several times, and its all true what you read here. We used to take our 4-wheelers up on the tracks and wait until the train went by, geez that was stupid, lol. I have been in one of the cubby holes when a train went by. Back then I wasn't scared to do it, nowadays, wouldn't catch me doing it,lol. I never saw the man or little girl..interesting story of "The Tunnel".
I live 15 minutes from this place, not far at all. Name of my small country town is Leesville, IN, so you can look on a map and see how close it is to me. Here's the story:
The story of Tunnelton Bridge.
Tunnelton Bridge is a bit hard to find if you are not familiar with the area. Southern Indiana is a grand place covered in woods. There is a very small town by the name of Tunnelton, which is close to the town of Medora, which is also very small. The bridge is not so much a bridge as it is a train tunnel over the river. Instead, in the tunnel you will find cubby holes created in the side of the walls. Many teenagers throughout the area have parties here and the tales abound about the various scary happenings that have occurred here. Not only is a great place for scary tales, but if you are brave you may wish to be in the tunnel when a train comes by, however, be sure that you are completely inside one of the cubby holes as the suction of the train can draw you toward your doom.
There are two tales about the Tunnelton Bridge, one of an elderly man that could not make it to a cubbyhole and was killed. He did not have time to crawl into a cubby hole and that was his demise. The other tale is of a young girl that was playing in the tunnel when the train passed by. The little girl was unable to crawl into a cubby hole and the train ran over her.
Many say that if you are in the tunnel at the time a train is coming you will see the lantern of the elderly man trying to foretell your future. However, others have seen the little girl playing nearby the entrance and in the tunnel even when no train is nearby.
If you happen to visit and are brave, you can sit by the tracks and wait to meet what ghosts lay in the tunnel. Just talk to some of the locals in Tunnelton, they have many stories to tell of the ghosts of Tunnelton Bridge

Tunnelton, Indiana Ghost Tales
I heard for many years in the train tunnel at night you can see a floating light that can not be broken going threw the tunnel that is believed to be one of the workers that built the tunnel in 1908!.

The daylight hours in Tunnelton, Indiana are identical to daylight hours anywhere else, but there are ghosts in this municipality, and they emerge during the moonlight hours. Things take place here that cannot be explained by science. Not everybody trusts in the testimonies the folks who live here tell, but with so many ghosts in Tunnelton you have a rather nice chance of noticing one if you stay overnight here.
These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently.
The ghost of a young-looking lady clothed as a house keeper has sometimes been witnessed sitting at the dining table in a Tunnelton trailer smoking a pipe. A number of folks claim this ghost is probably the struggling ghost of a local resident who used to reside here in Tunnelton.
The phantom of a dispossessed gentleman is now and then observed walking through an apartment in Tunnelton.
The ghost of a youthful cowboy has been witnessed on several instances traveling on a llama down a highway close to Tunnelton. No matter what folks verbalize, it without a doubt is a bloodcurdling spirit that you shouldn't go seeking.
A frightening creature can occasionally be made out looking for a person in Bedford Christian Camp before sunrise. One thing's for sure, this ghost unquestionably is scary; one that is rather not interrupted
